Enabling exchange of insights to add value to pharma category managers

The international pharmaceutical industry hosts thousands of meetings every year, to meet the need for effective engagement with partners, affiliates, healthcare professionals and colleagues across the globe.

For pharma procurement teams, managing the Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conferences and Events (MICE) category is a continuous challenge. Pressure to reduce costs, as well as tougher compliance regulations around meetings, events and conferences with healthcare professionals, means seeking new and innovative tactics.

To help industry peers to connect and share insights, The Smart Cube recently hosted a roundtable discussion with category managers from the world’s largest pharma companies – including Amgen, AstraZeneca, Biogen, Roche and Takeda – focused on key issues: budgeting and planning, new technology and tools, virtual meetings, and internal category structures.

From the start, it was clear there were many shared challenges around these issues, which led to an engaging discussion about the different approaches being taken to overcome hurdles and improve category effectiveness, as well as best practices and emerging trends.

We would like to thank these category experts for taking part and sharing their insights. Our procurement team found the session extremely informative, and it was great to hear the same sentiment echoed by participants. We hope the learnings and ideas help them deliver more value to their own organisations.

The Smart Cube has worked with nine of the top ten pharmaceutical companies in the world and we bring extensive sector and category expertise to our Life Sciences clients.
